IWSG for June 2015

June 3, 2015:

Have you ever gotten within a gnat’s breath of finishing a story and your mind goes totally blank?

It happened to me this past week. I’d planned to have my wip finished by the end of May and everything was going fine. Then, with only a few days to go and just the final scene to write, the words stopped flowing, the Muse went on vacation, and I was left to stare at the monitor and wonder where it all went.

I could blame it on the stars - I believe Mercury is again in retrograde, but then it usually is. I could also blame it on the weather – last Sunday the humidex reading was up to 30C/86F and next day the temperature dropped to around freezing. I could also blame it on the fact my life has been unusually hectic these past couple of weeks and I’m exhausted from all the drama. But I have a feeling the real reason is my two main characters have worked through all their problems, their hea is a given, so the challenge to accomplish that is gone.

I still have to finish the book and I will, once I’ve rerun the last scene in my mind and got myself back on track. In the meantime, note to self: Even if you have to stay up all night, DO NOT stop writing when you know what will happen next.
