E is for Energy and Excuses

Energy plays a big part in just about everything I do. It fuels my determination. Or is it the other way around? Is it determination that produces the necessary Energy to realize a goal or achieve the impossible?

What I do know is that as a writer I need Energy to spare. Not just to think up plots and write my books. I need it to do everything else that sits there staring me in the face, demanding to know why I don’t get off my butt and attend to the really important things. Things like cleaning, laundry, cooking lunch, playing nurse, valet, pet mommy and groomer, and whatever else has planted itself in my Job Jar with a highlighted note that reads, “Do me first.”

Energy and determination can always be disposed of with Excuses which is how Nick's boyfriend Al managed to enjoy the best of two worlds in:

  1. Okay, this article isn't anything like what I expected. When I saw "Energy and Excuses" I thought of the excuses I make every day when I don't get on the treadmill or take a walk in the parking lot at work. I started my diet again. I lost 30 pounds last year and my goal was 40. Now I've gained 10 pounds over the winter (due to lack of exercise) although I have been watching my food intake with the exception of the holidays.

When I'm procrastinating from writing, I usually clean and I hate cleaning. LOL!

Btw, I love the way you integrate your books into your posts.
