April 9 – H is for HESITATION - #atozchallenge
He who hesitates is lost or so the saying goes. But who hasn’t hesitated for one seemingly valid reason or another and lost out? If you’d grabbed that red dress at the outlet store, or that last box of whatever. Would you be happier? Fatter? Thinner?
Probably not, but hesitation is a good thing in my book. It saves me from buying things I don’t need with money I don’t have, and also from doing things I know I won’t enjoy. In the latter case, I don’t make up excuses. I figure I should just be honest and say, sorry, I have a root canal planned for that day.
Like everything else there are exceptions. When someone you know asks for help, you don’t think about it you just do it. If it’s a complete stranger and it’s more than helping them across the street or some other small, momentary thing, a slight hesitation is usually wise. After that, it depends on the circumstances and my own internal radar as to how I proceed.
But if it’s an animal in distress there’s no hesitation. Obviously I’m gonna call out everyone in the alphabet soup can and make sure that furkid is taken care of like royalty.
