April 4 – C is for CAUTION -#atozchallenge
I’m cautious by nature. I always looked twice, then checked again, long before I took a job in a law office and learned the fine art of cya by crossing all the t’s and dotting all the i’s.
There are times when I want to close my eyes, take a wild chance and jump. But the “what if” gene always holds me back. What if I’m wrong? What if I get hurt? Even more important, what if someone else gets injured or worse?
In many ways it’s good to be cautious, especially when other people/things are also at risk. But caution can also hold one back. It can result in missed opportunities and experiences for which there is no second chance. I know that, and I’ve learned to live with it by telling myself I made the wise choice. It simply wasn’t meant to happen. Of course, that doesn’t stop me from occasionally wondering, what if? What if I’d taken a chance? Would I be happier or richer? Would my life be better? I have no idea and perhaps that’s just as well.
Last night though, I threw caution to the wind and took my first baby steps at self-publishing.
