The Insecure Writer’s Support Group

My last IWSG post was full of doom and gloom following the announcement that Amber Quill Press is closing at the end of this month. Now, two months later, things are looking a little more encouraging.

The really good news is that I’ve placed four books in the Peninsula Heights series with another publisher with the first one, It’s Complicated, due to be re-issued sometime in late April. I’m still waiting to hear back from another publisher on other books, but these things take time and I have to be patient. More good news is that three sweet m/f paranormal short stories, previously included in anthologies, will be re-issued via a multi-author boxed set to be released later this year, probably in October.

Over the past several weeks, thanks to KC Kendricks, I’ve been learning the intricacies of indie publishing. This means that I’ll be self-publishing Missing, Presumed Dead, Missing, But Not Dead, and Still Missing, my 3 books in our shared Amethyst Cove series, sometime this summer. Yes, I’m nervous about doing it, very scared of messing up, but KC has already made me 3 brand new covers, so I have no excuse. I have to take a deep breath and just go for it.

  1. Way to go finding the new publisher. The same thing happened to me last year at this time and I found a place for my books. It's scary the way so many small presses are closing but you're powering onward. Good for you.

    1. You're so right, it's very scary. That's why so many authors are now going indie.

  2. Sorry about your publisher closing. But, you'll be a hybrid author, which is awesome! That is where the big success is at. Good luck.

    1. Thanks, Alex. I just downloaded a copy of Sagan's book, The Hybrid Author. It'll be interesting to see what it has to say.
