Whatever you do, don't stop...

Burnout and brick walls are all part of being a writer. I know that, but it's never stopped me from feeling guilty whenever I get stuck and I edit and re-edit the same paragraph a thousand times, stare at the screen hoping for inspiration that never comes, or sneak off to do a puzzle or play solitaire.

That was until today when I came across this wonderful piece of advice: It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don't stop.

And if you think about it, it really doesn't matter.

MY SEXY SATURDAY On Days Like These

December 13, 2014:

The theme for this week’s MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ is A Sexy Morning. The seven paragraphs below are from ON DAYS LIKE THESE and happen some when between midnight and dawn after Mark and Tony have spent the evening clubbing.

ON DAYS LIKE THESE
By Christiane France
 Blurb:

When burned-out mystery writer Mark Salvatore asks to borrow the old family home in the hills near Genoa, Italy, for some much needed R&R, he envisions a blissful summer enjoying the warm sun, hanging out with the villagers, eating homemade Italian food, and drinking the local wine.

After a frustrating trip via Paris and Nice, however, Mark finally arrives in Santi Fiori in the rain to find the house has been trashed. Chickens and ducks from a nearby farm have taken possession of the living room, and there’s a naked man asleep under a pile of blankets in the bedroom.

Tony Wheeler is English and says he’s in Italy on business. He also tells Mark that his car has been stolen, and he’s waiting for his clothes to dry and the weather to clear before he can walk to the village to inform the police. For all Mark knows, Tony could be a drifter, a drunk, or just about anything. And just hours earlier, Mark heard news of a bank robbery where the thieves got away with the loot.

Immediately, Mark’s creative processes go into high gear when it comes to the sexy stranger. Milan is less than a hundred miles north, and Santa Fiori is just off the main Milan-Genoa highway. What if Tony Wheeler is just an alias? What if he’s one of the thieves, hiding out in the hills until the heat is off? And what will Mark do when his fierce attraction to the mystery man starts to get the best of him?

^ ^ ^

“Hey, slow down,” Mark whispered, “Otherwise you won’t get what you want.”

“That’s okay. We can always get to me later.”

“No, we’ll get to you now,” Marked insisted. “Just hang on, and I’ll be right back.”

Mark stripped off his clothes on the way to the bathroom and dropped them on the floor. Within seconds, he was back with a handful of condoms and the small bottle of lube he kept with his shaving gear.

Tony picked up a couple of the condoms. “You planning on an all-nighter here?”

“If that’s what you want.”

“Why not? It feels so good the two of us being together like this, I want it to last forever,” Tony whispered as he ran a finger down the side of Mark’s face and along his lips. “Only problem is, I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of you.”

November 29, 2014:

The theme for this week’s MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ is Sexy Down The Avenue—a little glimpse of romance a hundred or more years ago. The seven paragraphs below are from A TASTE OF HONEY in which the Marquis de Vernnay does the unthinkable by falling for the lowest, most humble of servants and in the process discovers his true sexuality.

A TASTE OF HONEY

By Christiane France

 Blurb:

This is the final story in a trilogy that started with TIME SHIFT and was followed by FAST FORWARD. Here we find out what happened to Antoine, the Marquis de Vernnay, after Mariette and Celeste disappeared.

Antoine Auguste, Marquis de Vernnay, is twenty-four and bored. Bored with women at the house he frequents on la rue Charles V, and bored with the elaborate rituals and devices he must use in order to achieve an orgasm.

But then he meets Honey at an exclusive men’s club, and has his first sexual experience with another man.

One taste of this beautiful, young creole man with the golden skin and Antoine's life is forever changed. Honey is the only person he can think about and the only person he wants. Honey, however, is a servant of the lowest class, and also the property of another man. Can Antoine discover a way he can separate the two and keep Honey all to himself?

^ ^ ^

…once inside the chamber, Antoine felt the first fluttering of panic. He was shaking, he felt sick, dizzy, and he needed to leave. Now. He had no idea what had possessed him to take such a dangerous step as coming to a place like this. Even worse, he could not imagine what was about to happen to him now. Whatever it was, he’d lost his nerve. He just wanted to go home to his boring, unsatisfying life. He…

“Calm down,” Honey murmured, his magic fingers dipping into Antoine’s breeches and extracting his now-shriveled cock. “Give me a second to turn this little man back into a big brave soldier again, and you’ll feel much better. You’ll see.”

Along with his warm, golden skin and delicious scent, Honey had a soft, singsong accent when he spoke that intrigued Antoine. “Where are you from?”

“I am a Creole from the Antilles. The beautiful island of Martinique in the blue Caribbean Sea. My previous master was a ship’s captain, and I was his cabin boy. Unfortunately, the captain lost me to another man in a game of cards here in Paris.”

As he spoke, he dropped to his knees and took Antoine into his mouth. The moment Antoine felt the warm, wet, velvety texture of Honey’s tongue wrapping itself around his dick, he began to grow hard again. From that moment on, he was lost as the world spun faster on its axis, and everything became dreamlike and unreal.

He didn’t protest when Honey removed all their garments and pulled him down beside him on the bed, or when Honey kissed him, and their tongues engaged in the most delightfully erotic dance imaginable. And when Honey asked if Antoine would like to suck his cock, he hesitated for no more than a second before he complied.

However, Antoine did experience a tiny surge of doubt when Honey positioned him on all fours on the floor. And a slightly bigger surge when Honey spread his ass cheeks, and he felt Honey insert the head of his cock in his hole and begin to push.

RISING DAMP - m/m paranormal adult

November 15, 2014:

This week’s MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ calls for an I’m too sexy character. Some guys cultivate this image, others, whether they know it or not, just are.  In the following seven paragraphs from my latest release, RISING DAMP, we get to meet Matt and his oh so sexy housemate who just happens to be a ghost:

RISING DAMP
By Christiane France
http://www.amberquill.com/store/p/2065-Rising-Damp.aspx

Blurb:

When Matt Jones takes a temporary job as a housekeeper/housesitter in an old and imposing three-story Queen Anne Victorian estate, he’s worried about patching up a misunderstanding with his new boyfriend. He has no idea he’ll be sharing the premises with a ghost and, within the month, his life will drastically change.

Never in Matt’s wildest dreams would he have imagined that living with a sexy ghost could be so exciting and rewarding...

^ ^ ^

I headed back in the direction of the stairs and Toby followed along behind.

Just before we reached them, he said, “By the way, I forgot to thank you for last night. It was a total blast. We must do it again sometime soon.”

I turned to face him. “Excuse me?”

“You’ve already forgotten?” He grinned. “Never mind. Perhaps it wasn’t that good after all. I must try to do better next time.”

I had no idea what Toby was talking about. I stared at him for a second, waiting for him to explain. When I realized that wasn’t going to happen, I muttered a quick see ya later and went out through the steel door, which I then closed and locked, just in case. In case of what I wasn’t quite sure. If he was a ghost a locked door wouldn’t keep him in. And if he wasn’t?

I had no answer for that, but halfway down the stairs I remembered my wet dream. My knees buckled and I grabbed onto the stair rail to stop from falling the rest of the way. The dream had been fantastic, as good if not better than the real thing, but still a dream. No way did Toby have anything to do with it.

Or did he?...

New Release - RISING DAMP - m/m paranormal

I love ghost stories and I’d just finished The Ghost Wore Denim with KC Kendricks http://www.amberquill.com/store/p/2044-The-Ghost-Wore-Denim.aspx when another spooky idea dropped into my head… Supposedly a ghost must remain in the place where he died until such time as his murderer is apprehended or his demise is somehow revenged. But if this is true what happens if a ghost gets accidentally relocated and needs help to return home?

RISING DAMP

He has no idea he’ll be sharing the premises with a ghost and, within the month, his life will drastically change.

Never in Matt’s wildest dreams would he have imagined that living with a sexy ghost could be so exciting and rewarding...

Excerpt:

...“In other words, you want me to take you back so you can figure something out?” I couldn’t believe I was buying into this ridiculous nonsense. But hey, it was better than watching mindless TV or twiddling my thumbs.

“I’d be most grateful if you would.”

“No problem. What do I have to do? Park my car out front, then you’ll hop in and give me directions to the house?”

“I’m afraid it won’t be quite that easy. The first step will be to get me and the trunk out of this house. It’s a fairly big trunk and you may need help to carry it. Then you’ll have to find a way of putting it back inside Henry’s house.”

I stared at Toby hard. This had to be a joke. It was too crazy to be anything else. But then his image wavered again and I gave in. Whoever he was, the sooner I got him and that fucking trunk out of here the better for all concerned.

I swallowed a king-sized sigh. “You’re right. It sounds anything but easy. There’s bound to be someone else living in the house by now, so I can’t knock on the door and pretend it’s a delivery. And I won’t do anything stupid like breaking in. You have any better suggestions?”

He gave me another of his super sad looks. “Sorry, I don’t.”

“What if I take you over there late one night and leave you on the doorstep?”

“That may not work. I think the new owner will have to take the trunk inside.”

“You know this for sure or you’re just guessing?”

“In ghost stories the spirit must forever remain the house where he breathed his last breath.”

“Right. But this is real life not a book. Who’s going to take in a package they know nothing about?” I wondered aloud. “If they have any sense they’ll call the bomb squad and run like hell. Any other brilliant ideas?”

“The garage is attached to the house and there’s a conservatory at the back. In both cases, the doors into the main part of the house will be locked, but if either of the outer ones are open that would work.”

“I may have a better idea.”

“And that is?”

“I have a friend on the police force. Give me the address and a couple of days to scope the place out and talk to my friend. Where’s the trunk?”

“The address is 24 Alder Close, and it’s that old cabin trunk in the first room you checked. Pale green banded with strips of dark wood. Maybe you noticed it?”

“I saw there were several trunks when I looked in there, but I didn’t notice any one in particular. Let me take a look at the house first. I’ll worry about the rest later.”

November 8, 2014:

This week’s MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ calls for a sexy first. In the following seven paragraphs we share Luke and Travis’ first kiss in ONCE UPON A SECRET:

Blurb:

The last thing Luke Fiorelli wants to do, being a member of a close-knit immigrant family living in the Italian neighborhood of a small town, is embarrass or upset them by openly declaring his sexuality. Moving to the big city isn’t an option for a couple of reasons: partly because he owns a successful landscaping business, and partly because his family wouldn’t understand him relocating on what they would interpret as a whim. So, by convincing himself that his strait-laced father would kill him if he ever found out about Luke’s sexuality, and satisfying his needs with the occasional weekend trip out of town, Luke has never had a problem keeping that part of his life a deep, dark secret.

That is, until he meets handsome and openly gay Travis Barrington III. The attraction between the two men is strong and instantaneous, and suddenly Luke is scrambling to invent even more excuses to keep his secret.

Travis, however, knows all about secrets and the harm they can do, but can he convince Luke to accept that and step out into the light?

^ ^ ^

“You really want me to kiss you?” Travis asked, feeling his body react at the thought.

“Unless you have some kind of objection.”

Travis rubbed the pad of his thumb over Luke’s so very kissable lips. “There’s no easy way of me asking this, but—“

“Is this the first time for me?” Luke parted his lips, and Travis felt the insistent glide of Luke’s tongue against his thumb. “No.”

Travis replaced his thumb with his mouth, and as he gently brushed his lips against Luke’s, every nerve in his body sprang to life. “I can’t believe this is happening,” he murmured, aware of the slight quiver to his voice as he put his arms around Luke and drew him close. “I’ve wanted it to happen. I’ve wanted it for weeks, and I can’t tell you how much, but I was beginning to think it never would. Why…”

Suddenly, Travis didn’t care why, only that it was. Luke was in his arms, Luke’s tongue was seeking entry into his mouth, and it was Luke’s hands that were urgently stroking his cock. He was so hard and so ready, he desperately wanted release, but first, he wanted to feel the hot, wet silk of Luke’s tongue and lips take possession of his aching shaft and draw it into his mouth. Only then did he want Luke to suck and tease and slowly push him over the edge.

“Stand up,” Luke whispered. “Your pants are in my way.”

MISSING, BUT NOT DEAD - m/m contemporary mystery adult

October 25, 2014:

For this week’s MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ I have seven paragraphs from MISSING, BUT NOT DEAD, my latest book in the Amethyst Cove Mystery Series. This series involves two ex-cops, Greg Stewartson and Ian Coulter, who own Amethyst Cove Security & Investigations. I write Greg’s stories while my good friend and fellow Amber Allure author, KC Kendricks, takes care of Ian’s adventures.

MISSING, BUT NOT DEAD
By Christiane France
Contemporary m/m mystery
http://www.amberquill.com/store/p/2051-Missing-But-Not-Dead.aspx

When Greg Stewartson, ex-cop, private investigator, and half-owner of Amethyst Cove Security & Investigations, meets Ash Tyler, a handsome and very sexy nurse, their mutual attraction turns Greg’s world upside down. Greg would love to just concentrate on their budding romance. But he also wants to help Ash find his biological family—the one Ash says he had before he was taken into care, adopted and moved from California to Michigan more than twenty years ago. Although if they were Ash’s real family what made them vanish almost as effectively as if they’d never existed in the first place?

^ ^ ^

Ash sat beside me and placed a hand on my stomach, then he leaned over and kissed me gently on the lips. “And how’s this?”

“Fantastic.” Between the music and the murmur of voices I knew there were other people enjoying the night the same way we were. This was what passed for Lovers Lane here in the Cove. It was where the kids came along with anyone else who was concerned with keeping their private affairs private. And if there were those who wanted to play peeping tom, too bad. It was now too dark for them to see much if anything. I cupped Ash’s face in my hands and deepened the kiss.

He moved his hand lower and as he touched my shaft I felt it swell and lengthen. I pulled back a little and sighed with pleasure. “That feels amazing. Just don’t stop.”

He unsnapped my jeans and lowered the zipper. I eased my legs apart to give him access, but his cold hand came as a surprise and I tensed.

          “Relax, babe.”

I sucked in a breath. “Your hand is like ice.”

“That’s okay. It adds a little extra thrill.”

Excerpt:

We’d reached the giant pile of rocks marking the southern end of the beach. Over time, the rocks had settled into a haphazard collection of nooks and crannies. I found a spot that had room for two and was high enough we wouldn’t get wet if we’d misjudged the time of the next incoming tide. I beckoned for Ash to follow. The rocks were still warm from the sun and I could hear soft music playing somewhere nearby. I leaned back and closed my eyes.  “This feels like heaven.”

Ash sat beside me and placed a hand on my stomach, then he leaned over and kissed me gently on the lips. “And how’s this?”

“You think?” Actually it did. His cool fingers on my hot flesh felt a tad kinky, and I decided I liked the feeling. Then his mouth replaced his hand and it took every bit of my self-control not to lose it then and there.

MISSING, PRESUMED DEAD
By Christiane France
Contemporary m/m mystery

Private investigator and ex-cop, Greg Stewartson, is on his way to bed when his Hollywood-producer brother, Vance, shows up on his doorstep. With him is the handsome, sexy, and blond Tim Fensham, the brother of Vance's latest girlfriend, movie star Petra Lianne. Vance says Petra went missing more than a month ago after last being seen in Amethyst Cove. He has new information, but the police refuse to follow it up. They’ve closed the case, declaring the actress "Missing, Presumed Dead."

But Vance and Tim don’t believe Petra is dead and ask Greg to take the case. After Greg agrees, Tim stays to help him find Petra, while Vance returns to L.A.

Greg doesn’t want or need help, and wishes Tim would leave, too. He’s attracted to the man and figures the feeling may be mutual, but he doesn’t mix business with pleasure and he doesn’t need the distraction of Tim staying in his house. He also doesn’t like the way Tim keeps trying to interfere in the investigation, or the unexpected moves Tim puts on him during a power failure.

Still, Greg can’t tell Tim to take his case elsewhere for fear of upsetting Vance, but he does tell Tim to back off. The trouble is, Tim is not a very good listener...

^ ^ ^

We’d made it halfway down the hall leading to the bedrooms when the lights went off, yet again. Tim cannoned into my back, almost knocking me over.

“Sorry about that. I hate the dark.” He gave a shaky laugh. “Always have. Scares the living crap out of me. Makes me jumpy as hell. Clumsy, too.”

Oh, yeah? I’ve seen more than a few clever moves over the years, but when it came to making the best of an opportunity, this guy was beyond good. Believable, almost.

He cuddled closer, presumably to prove his point, then wrapped his arms around my body, and I felt his hot breath tickling my neck. “I hope you don’t mind me hanging onto you like this.”

Mind? Why should I mind? The power’s never off for more than a minute, two at the very most, so I had no reason to worry about things getting out of hand. “It’s okay. You’ll be fine.”

Whether I would be fine was a whole different story. His heat, his scent, the way his hard cock was pressing against my crack was such a turn-on, I figured I might as well enjoy the thrill while it lasted. All I had to do was relax…one, two, three, four. Any second now there would be light. Five, six, seven, eight, nine… By the time I got to ten, my imagination had taken off and I didn’t care if the damn lights never ever came on again.

He was nibbling my ears and stroking my dick, and it didn’t take genius mentality to know where things were headed. But what the hell? Maybe he really was afraid of the dark rather than an opportunist, and if something we both wanted kept his mind off his fears where was the harm?

Cain Carpenter has it all—looks, money, a beautiful home, and a successful business. What he doesn’t have is someone to share it with, someone he loves and who loves him in return.
In spite of the belief that if Cain kisses enough frogs he’ll eventually find the prince of his dreams, the search is proving far from simple. As owner and manager of The Peony, the town’s classiest restaurant, Cain doesn’t have much time for a social life. He’s tried all the usual avenues for meeting people, including a dating agency, and he’s about given up...

But then Cain accepts an invitation to a singles masquerade party and meets a masked man in an elaborate headdress of black feathers who sends his thoughts and senses reeling with excitement. The stranger invites Cain to dance, and from the instant they touch, Cain truly believes, at long last, that this is the special man he’s been waiting for.

A few minutes later, however, the man answers a phone call, mutters something about an emergency and disappears, leaving Cain in a complete panic. The rules of the masquerade include no removal of masks and no exchange of names. If you can’t somehow figure out the identity of the person who sparked your interest, you lose. And Cain doesn’t want to lose, but without the man’s name and no idea what he looks like, he feels hopeless. All he knows about “Black Feathers” is that he’s a little taller and heavier than himself, but that could describe half the town’s male population.

Will Cain be able to track down the alluring stranger in order to determine if they’re truly destined for a future?

My second contribution to the Amethyst Cove series will be released this weekend as part of the AmberPax CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'.

Blurb:
When Greg Stewartson, ex-cop, private investigator, and half-owner of Amethyst Cove Security & Investigations, meets Ash Tyler, a handsome and very sexy nurse, their mutual attraction turns Greg’s world upside down. Greg would love to just concentrate on their budding romance. But he also wants to help Ash find his biological family—the one Ash says he had before he was taken into care, adopted and moved from California to Michigan more than twenty years ago. Although if they were Ash’s real family what made them vanish almost as effectively as if they’d never existed in the first place?

October 4, 2014:
For this week’s MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ I have seven paragraphs from a paranormal story I wrote with KC Kendricks. This book is due to be released by Amber Allure tomorrow, October 5, 2014:

THE GHOST WORE DENIM
By KC Kendricks and Christiane France
Paranormal m/m
Michael Brooks has it all mapped out. The market is ripe for him to flip a few houses to supplement his income as an untenured professor at the local college. His plan takes a detour, however, when he finds a two-story Colonial perfect for a Bed & Breakfast—with a ghost who wears denim.
Deputy Colin Jefferson is a hometown boy who made good. As a member of the local police force, he serves the community he loves. He’s heard stories about the Taylor Mansion ghost all his life. Maybe he’s even seen it a time or two, he admits to himself, if he truly believed in that sort of thing.
But now Colin has to believe when the ghost pays a visit and Michael asks for his help. Will the men be able to solve the mansion’s ghost problem even as they’re driven into each other’s arms, not out of fear, but out of intense mutual desire?

...I hustled down the stairs and flung open the front door to find Colin on the step, presumably about to knock
He grinned. “Going somewhere?”
Jesus, he looked so smoking hot my knees went weak with lust. “Um…Yes. No. What are you doing here? I was just about to get my phone and call you.”
His left eyebrow drifted up as a smile teased the corner of his mouth.
God, his mouth. I wanted to kiss his mouth and nibble his lips until he moaned.
“I thought I’d stop in and see how the move was coming along.”
“It’s done. My helpers are gone, and I’m all in.” I licked my lips. “I even have the bed made.”
